In his project, the author focuses on a photographic study of the architecture of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, making it possible to see the cruel rationalization of architecture intended for killing. A wide-ranging plan and methods, which are one of the achievements of modernism assuming a positive impulse for human development, have become in Oświęcim a tool contributing to the collapse of all contemporary values in the title.

Tomasz Lewandowski: b. in 1978 in Nysa, lives and works in Germany. In 2012, he completed a master’s degree in photography at the University of Arts Burg Giebichenstein in Halle in the studio of prof. Rudolf Schäfer. Since 2014, he has also been working as a visiting lecturer in photography at the Institute of Art Education in Warsaw and since 2018 he is a visiting lecturer at the Martin Luther University in Halle (Saale). He has numerous publications in architectural magazines and awards in competitions such as MIFA 2018, LensCulture 2017, ND Awards 2017, 2 Grand Prix at Vintage Photo Festival and others. As a documentary photographer, he deals mainly with the sociological dimension of architecture.
